Climb Your Mountain (CYM) is a charity dedicated to helping people to climb their own personal mountain (Since 2008) by providing opportunities both physically and educationally so they can overcome challenges they may face in life.
For 2020 we are focusing on three main areas to help people (Adults, Children & Families) improve their physical and mental health – Free Walks, Free Books and Free Talks.
The Free Walks are ‘Wellbeing Walks’ open to anyone to enjoy and benefit from and more details are in the ‘Free Walks & Hikes‘ section. The Free Books and Talks are on a wide range of Health & Wellbeing topics and more details are in the ‘Free Books & Talks‘ section.
Why?
We truly believe that outdoor activities, including walks and hikes can help improve people’s confidence and self-esteem as well as their health and well-being. By offering a range of free walks people can get fitter, enjoy seeing new places, connect with nature, meet other people and have a good time in a welcoming and organised way.
There are so many people (of all ages) who go through difficult times for a wide variety of reasons and through the free educational books and talks we hope to pass on valuable information, knowledge, experience, tools and techniques so people can understand, manage, overcome and prevent issues and help them climb their own personal mountain.
Who?
Charlie Wardle founded the charity in 2008 and still remains heavily involved. On the physical and outdoors side of things he is a qualified Mountain Leader and owns his own Outdoor Adventure Company, so has great experience in the outdoors and leading groups. On the educational side he has spent many years researching, meeting people and using his own personal experiences to write the range of Health & Wellbeing books and he has delivered hundreds of courses, workshops and seminars on these topics. He is a passionate about helping people to help themselves with both their physical and mental health and to climb their own personal mountains they face in life.
In addition, there are several Trustees and volunteers who help and assist the charity in a variety of ways and we are always looking for more people who may wish to get involved – so get in touch!
Our Mission…
We are hoping to help as many people as possible by providing these free outdoor walks and the free books and talks on Health & Wellbeing topics. The more funds we raise and the more help we get then the more adults, children and their families can benefit.
